How to put on a bolster case?
Putting on the bolster cover follows a simple logic, similar to that of a pillowcase but adapted to the elongated shape of the cushion.
- Turn the pillowcase inside out and lay it flat on the bed
- Slide the bolster through the opening, starting at one end
- Gradually push the cushion until it is fully engaged
- Close the zipper or fold down the interior flap depending on the model
- Smooth the fabric so that the pillowcase fits the shape of the bolster
For models with ties, tie the ends neatly after centering the bolster in the pillowcase. This traditional finish gives a particularly neat result.
How to maintain your bolster case?
Like all bed linen, the bolster case requires regular maintenance to maintain its softness and colors. Some rules depending on the subject.
- Wash at 40°C on normal cycle for percale and standard cotton, 30°C for satin and gauze
- Set the spin to a moderate speed, around 800 revolutions per minute to preserve the fibers
- Use a mild detergent, avoid fabric softener which dulls the fabric
- Air dry when possible, or tumble dry on low heat for classic cotton
- Iron at temperature suitable for the material, skip this step for gauze and washed linen
The ideal washing frequency is between one and two weeks for daily use. Having several rotating pillowcases extends the life of each piece and makes it easier to organize laundry.
Why use a bolster case?
The benefit of a bolster cover goes well beyond protecting the cushion. It makes cleaning bed linen considerably easier: washing a pillowcase is much simpler than washing a complete bolster.
